Building for the future of the Western General Hospital
An ambitious programme of construction and service redesign is underway across the Western General Hospital.
For over 150 years the hospital has successfully provided healthcare, adapting to changing care and patient needs.
To continue providing excellent care and sustainable services into the future we are significantly improving the hospital’s physical environment.
This will transform services for patients and staff, creating more space, comfort and privacy and providing access to modern facilities and cutting-edge equipment.
Plans are also being progressed to make the case for a new Regional Specialist Cancer Centre located on the hospital site. This forms part of our vision to deliver world leading, sustainable health services until 2045.
We are also carrying out a range of infrastructure modernisations and upgrades around the site to support our vision of working towards a carbon neutral site energy strategy.
