Capital Developments NHS Lothian | Our Organisation

Our Vision

Building a healthier future

Ensuring the availability of appropriate, clean and safe healthcare environments is central to the delivery of high-quality healthcare in NHS Lothian.

In terms of capital development, the vision is for major hospital and acute services to be focused around these sites:

  • Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
  • Royal Hospital for Children and Young People
  • Western General Hospital
  • St John’s Hospital
  • Royal Edinburgh Campus

Masterplans for investment in and development of these sites are in place, or have recently been completed.

We also have a vision to build a new:

  • National Treatment Centre
  • Reprovision of The Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion
  • Regional Cancer Centre

We believe good buildings support great healthcare. Working with our partners we are committed to building a healthier future for the people of Lothian and beyond.
