Lothian System – testing for care home workers revised
The Lothian system – incorporating the 4 Integration Joint Boards and NHS Lothian – is fully committed to delivering a robust approach to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in the care homes in the Lothian. It recognises that this needs to be based on working in partnership with our care home operators and their staff and applying solid principles of public health management. We understand this requirement to be in three parts – management of outbreaks; surveillance and testing of asymptomatic care home workers.

NHS Lothian’s Strategic Clinical Framework – Our Health, Our Future
Our Health, Our Future sets out the principles and aims that will help us shape and deliver services over the next seven years and beyond. It underpins our approach to delivering Scotland’s vision for achieving sustainable, quality health care services and delivering a healthier future for everyone. As you will see from the framework, patient care and safety is the number one priority driving all our plans.
In developing the framework we have taken account of challenges we need to address, including the growing over 75 age group, health inequalities and the increase in multiple morbidity as a result of these factors, as well as changes to the workforce and continuing limited public resources. To continue to provide sustainable, quality healthcare for the people of Lothian, in the face of these challenges, we need to do some things differently.
Our Health, Our Future sets out our approach for developing and delivering our future models of care, ensuring that staff, patients and stakeholders are fully engaged in this programme of change and redesign.
