Climate Adaptation – June webinar

Untitled design (1)

People in Scotland are already feeling the effects of climate change, making it urgent that we not only reduce our emissions but also build resilience by adapting to the new climate realities.

This webinar explores the current and future impact of climate change on health in Lothian, it looks at how we work alongside nature to build resilience and adapt to an uncertain future. We will look at how a changing climate will impact the delivery of healthcare services here in the UK and why our healthcare system – from staff, to equipment, to buildings – needs to adapt to become climate ready.

We hear about NHS Fifes ongoing investigation into overheating in wards. This investigation is exploring the infrastructural and environmental factors that could be causing overheating, and the impact on staff and patients. Can low cost and ideally nature-based/retrofit solutions be found to these issues?

In Lothian we will explore the opportunities to work with nature to reduce flood risk at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and how our Biodiversity Action Plan can contribute to climate change adaptation.
